New models - Volvo - XC40 - Special EditionSpecial Edition Volvo XC40 gets extra kitThe Volvo XC40 Special Edition gets extra equipment and a driveaway price of $59,99027 Feb 2026 VOLVO has announced the return of the XC40 Special Edition in Australia, with a 360-degree camera, panoramic sunroof, leather interior, tinted rear windows, premium paint, and a harman/kardon sound system included as standard for a driveaway price of $59,990.
This makes the Special Edition between $974 and $3622 cheaper (based on state-dependent driveaway pricing) than the entry-level XC40 Plus variant despite the new standard inclusions.
Based on the entry-level Plus B4 variant (priced from $54,990 + ORC), the XC40 Special Edition is powered by a turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine and 48v mild-hybrid powertrain – producing 145kW and 300Nm – coupled with an eight-speed automatic transmission.
In this guise, Volvo claims a 0-100km/h time of 8.4 seconds and a fuel consumption figure of 7.3 litres per 100km.
Volvo has offered the special edition of its small SUV in Australia on two previous occasions within the last two years, each time bolstering the XC40’s list of standard equipment and wearing a $59,990 driveaway price tag.
The previous two Special Editions added a 360-degree camera, 19-inch alloy wheels, and premium paint as standard.
While the 2026 iteration instead arrives on 18-inch wheels, its list of new inclusions has been extended elsewhere.
The Lifestyle Pack is included as standard with the Special Edition which adds the panoramic sunroof, tinted rear windows and 13-speaker harman/kardon sound system.
Its additional features – including the 360-degree camera and leather interior – are standard inclusions on the higher-spec, all-wheel drive Ultra variant (priced from $61,990 + ORCs).
These features join the XC40’s existing list of standard features, wheels, roof-rails, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a 9.0-inch infotainment touchscreen (with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and built-in Google services), wireless phone charging, and power-adjustable driver and front passenger seats with four-way power lumbar adjustment.
The XC40’s standard safety suite includes blind-spot warning, steer assist, rear cross-traffic alert, adaptive cruise control, traffic sign recognition, and parking assist as standard. When the XC40 was tested by ANCAP in 2018, it achieved a five-star rating.
The current Volvo XC40 Special Edition offer applies to examples ordered and delivered before 31 March 2026.
Currently, the XC40 is Volvo’s top sales performer. As of the end of January 2026, 177 examples have been delivered. However, this marks a 25.3 per cent decrease in sales for the model compared to the same month last year.
