Mazda cuts prices across flagship SUV ranges

MAZDA Australia has reduced pricing across its Large Architecture SUV line-up, cutting thousands of dollars from the CX-70 and CX-90 while introducing lower prices for diesel and plug-in hybrid variants across the broader CX-60 and CX-80 ranges.

The 2026 model year update sees Mazda adopt simplified pricing for its inline six-cylinder petrol and diesel powertrains, with both engine options now priced identically across equivalent grades.

The largest savings are reserved for diesel-powered variants with some models dropping more than $9000.

Leading the charge is the CX-90, where prices have fallen by between $3200 and $9288 depending on variant. The three-row flagship now opens at $66,100 plus on-road costs for the Touring and tops out at $87,100 + ORC for the Azami SP and Azami Takumi.

The five-seat CX-70 also receives substantial reductions ranging from $3700 to $8814 with pricing now starting from $73,020 + ORC for the GT and rising to $83,520 + ORC for the Azami SP.

The revised pricing means buyers no longer pay a premium to choose Mazda’s 3.3-litre e-Skyactiv D turbo-diesel over the equivalent turbo-petrol engine.

Mazda has also repositioned its plug-in hybrid offerings, with the P50e variants in the CX-60 and CX-80 now carrying only a $5000 premium over comparable petrol or diesel models.

The adjustment sees plug-in hybrid prices reduced by as much as $7650 depending on model and specification.

Additional to new pricing, Mazda has expanded the standard equipment list across the range.

The CX-90 now receives Mazda Connected Services, Front Cross Traffic Brake, and Cruising Traffic Support with Driver Emergency Assist as standard, bringing it into line with the CX-70 and CX-80.

Mazda Connected Services enables remote vehicle functions via the MyMazda smartphone application, while also adding emergency SOS functionality and vehicle status monitoring.

The CX-60 receives the same safety and connectivity upgrades.

Visual changes are limited but include a standard Sports Appearance Package for CX-90 GT grades. Chrome exterior trim has been replaced by gloss black accents across the grille surround, bumper trim, mirror caps, window mouldings, roof rails, and badging, complemented by 21-inch black alloy wheels.

Polymetal Grey Metallic also joins the colour palette for the CX-60 and CX-90, replacing Sonic Silver Metallic.

The CX-80 range expands with the addition of a new diesel-powered Pure entry grade priced from $56,100 + ORC, reducing the entry point to the model's inline six diesel range by $8600.

Mazda Australia Managing Director Vinesh Bhindi said the revisions were designed to strengthen the appeal of the company’s premium SUV family.

“Our Large Architecture range already represents the very best of Mazda, combining Kodo design and exemplary craftsmanship with acclaimed Jinba Ittai driving dynamics,” he said.

“We’re now making the range even more compelling by increasing the value proposition and making each model more attainable than ever.”

The updated range arrives as Mazda strives to build momentum in Australia's large SUV market, although sales of the North American-developed CX-70 and CX-90 remain modest compared with the CX-60 and CX-80.

To the end of June, Mazda had delivered 309 CX-90s and 132 CX-70s, compared with 2699 CX-60s and 1457 CX-80s. The revised pricing may improve the competitiveness of the larger models against rivals including the Toyota Kluger, Hyundai Palisade, Kia Sorento, and Nissan Pathfinder.
