New models - Volkswagen - TransporterVolkswagen Transporter T7 pricing revealedSeventh generation VW Transporter arrives with new EV version, pricing begins from $58,59029 Sep 2025 By MATT BROGAN and PETER BARNWELL VOLKSWAGEN Group Australia has announced pricing and specs for its next generation (T7) Transporter midsize van line-up due next month (October) comprising six variants in long or short wheelbase.
Driveline choices include a turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder diesel or battery electric with front-, rear-, or all-wheel drive configuration depending on variant.
Pricing starts from $58,590 plus on-road costs for the base TDI 125 (kW) front-wheel-drive SWB diesel rising to $85,590 for the range topping BEV 210 (kW) LWB with RWD.
By way of comparison, the outgoing T6 Transporter range was listed from $45,890 to $64,490 + ORC.
Against the comparable TDI340 range, the newly listed T7 Transporter TDI 125kW line-up is between $5700 and $7700 dearer than before (see pricing table below).
The T7 Transporter competes against the likes of recently upgraded Toyota HiAce (from $48,888), Ford Transit Custom (from $56,590), Hyundai Staria Load (from $46,740), Renault Traffic (from $49,990), Mercedes-Benz Vito (from $63,000), Peugeot Expert (from $48,990), and LDV G10 (from $37,740).
Additional variants of the Volkswagen Transporter T7 will arrive in the first half of 2026 including the eHybrid plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) with up to 60km electric driving range, Transporter Crew Van five-seat in short- and long-wheelbase guise, and a Transporter dual-cab LWB six-seater.
The T7 arrives concurrent with what Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles calls its ‘year of the van’ new model offensive with the all-new T7 complementing upgraded Caddy and Crafter and the ID.Buzz electric model.
The German importer says the Transporter has a strong following Down Under from small and large businesses, tradies through to ‘converters’ who customise it for camping and other lifestyle applications.
Volkswagen says the battery electric Transporter T7 offers “a significant 210kW of power and 415Nm of torque”. It features a 64kWh battery and may be charged from 10-80 per cent in as little as 38 minutes when connected to a 125kW DC charger.
The diesel alternative makes 125kW and 390Nm and is paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission.
Dimensionally the SWB variant measure 5050mm in length (+146mm) while the LWB is 5450mm. Body width is now 2032mm (+128mm) while wheelbase options are 3100mm or 3500mm.
The T7 has a load bed length of 2602mm and loading height of 1377mm for the SWB, with cargo volume between 5.8 cubic metres (SWB) and 6.8 cubic metres (LWB).
Towing capacities vary by configuration with front-wheel drive models capable of towing 2000kg (braked), rear-wheel drive models 2300kg (braked), and all-wheel drive models 2800kg (braked).
Payload capabilities likewise vary between 760kg and 1062kg, depending on variant.
As expected, the new Transporter is equipped with additional standard equipment, and the latest infotainment technology and safety features.
Standard kit includes LED headlights with Light Assist automatic high-beam, LED taillights, keyless start, single-zone climate control, heated front seats, a 12.0-inch Digital Cockpit (instrument panel), 13.0-inch infotainment touchscreen, native satellite navigation, wireless App-Connect, wireless phone charging, DAB+ digital radio, seven USB ports, and GoConnect connected cars app.
On the safety front, the T7 benefits from adaptive cruise control, autonomous emergency braking, blind spot monitoring, lane keeping assistance, front and rear parking aids, a rear-view camera, traffic sign recognition, and more.
A range of cost-options are available including alloy wheel choices, a dash camera, body-coloured bumpers, and a 360-degree camera system.
Some customisation features incur no additional cost such as the front double bench or no-cost deletion of the load partition while adding a second sliding door on driver side for example adds $1190.
“Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles now has the newest and best range of vans on the market, from our updated compact Caddy and large Crafter to our innovative ID.Buzz Cargo,” said Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles head of product and marketing Michelle Rowney.
“Now comes the renewal and expansion of one of our iconic nameplates, the Transporter.
“We have created a range that allows customers to tailor their options to their needs, from blank canvas to fully equipped – focusing on mix and match equipment and special camper preparation that reflects the Transporter being synonymous with ‘van life’ around Australia.
“Every Transporter is a medium-sized sweet spot perfect for small and big business, camping lifestyles and much more, offering a combination of more space, more technology and more choice including a powerful 210kW BEV.”
