New models - Porsche - GT3 - S/CPorsche 911 GT3 S/C drops top – and weightGT3 S/C is Porsche’s first hardcore 911 to come with a fully automated soft top20 Apr 2026 PORSCHE has expanded its GT portfolio with the introduction of the new 911 GT3 S/C (Sport Cabriolet), a permanent addition to the 992.2 generation and marking the first time the high-revving non-turbo GT3 formula has been paired with a fully automated convertible roof.
The model is available for order now, arriving later in the year priced from $588,500 excluding on-road costs – representing a significant premium in excess of $140,000 over the 911 GT3 touring.
A Street Style Package adds $58,670, bringing “unique” exterior graphics and interior trim.
Positioned as a purist “driver’s car”, the GT3 S/C blends open-top motoring with the core attributes of Porsche’s most focused roadgoing models, combining the naturally aspirated 4.0-litre flat-six from the current GT3 with lightweight engineering derived from the limited-run 911 S/T coupe.
Producing 375kW and 450Nm, the engine revs to 9000rpm and is paired exclusively with a short-ratio six-speed manual transmission, delivering performance said to be on par with the coupe, with Porsche claiming a 0-100km/h time of 3.9 seconds and a top speed of 313km/h.
Unlike previous open-top GT variants such as the limited-production 911 Speedster, the GT3 S/C will be a regular production model.
Central to its development is an intensive lightweight program with extensive use of carbon-fibre and magnesium to offset the addition of the convertible roof. At 1497kg, the GT3 S/C weighs just 30kg more than the previous-generation Speedster.
Carbon-fibre is used extensively throughout the body, including the bonnet, doors and front guards, while magnesium features in the roof structure and centre-lock wheels, reducing rotational mass.
The standard Porsche Ceramic Composite Brake system further contributes to weight savings, while a compact lithium-ion battery trims additional kilos.
Despite adopting a fully automated soft-top roof – a first for the GT3 – Porsche has maintained a coupe-like silhouette, aided by magnesium structural elements and a tightly integrated design.
Porsche says the roof can be opened or closed in about 12 seconds at speeds of up to 50km/h.
Chassis hardware mirrors that of the GT3 Touring, including a double-wishbone front axle and high-grip tyres delivering what Porsche claims is “unprecedented open-top handling performance”.
Inside, the two-seat cabin continues the lightweight theme, with reduced insulation, carbon-backed seats and GT-specific displays including a track-focused instrument mode.
The new Street Style Package allows for extensive visual personalisation through “unique” graphics, colour highlights and bespoke interior finishes. ![]() Read more11th of March 2026 ![]() Porsche Cayenne S Electric priced for OzCayenne S Electric enriches Porsche’s full-size SUV range, available Q3 from $193,100All new modelsMotor industry news |
