New models - KGM - Torres - hybridKGM launches Torres Hybrid Down UnderSouth Korean importer announced first Hybrid Electric Vehicle, priced from $45,000 d/a21 Nov 2025 By MATT BROGAN KGM Australia has announced the launch of its Torres Hybrid for the local market, the incoming model available from $45,000 driveaway and sized to compete against the likes of the Chery Tiggo 7, GWM Haval H6, and Toyota RAV4 in the bustling Medium SUV segment.
Powered by KGM’s Dual-Tech Hybrid System, the front-wheel drive Torres Hybrid features a turbocharged 1.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine combined with two electric motors and a hybrid-specific transmission. Combined system power is listed at 150kW and peak torque 300Nm.
Operating on 95RON premium unleaded, the model can achieve a claimed 5.6 litres per 100km on the combined cycle with associated CO2 emissions of 127 grams per kilometre. Electric energy is stored within a 1.8kWh lithium-iron-phosphate battery pack.
KGM says the Torres Hybrid has undergone advanced vehicle dynamics development, with the model incorporating new shock absorbers with Smart Frequency Damping (SFD) to deliver “precise tuning to control larger body movements whilst providing more compliant damping over rough surfaces”.
Further enhancements to ride comfort are said to include the reinforcement of sound-absorbing and insulating materials in key noise transmission areas such as the engine compartment, engine cover, and wheel arches, effectively reducing both road and engine noise.
The model measures 4705mm in length, 1890mm in width, 1720mm in height, and rides upon a 2690mm wheelbase. It tips the scale at 1670kg (kerb) and can tow up to 1300kg (braked). KGM lists a cargo capacity of 465 litres (VDA) with the rear seats in place, growing to 1526 litres (VDA) all told when the rear seats are folded flat.
Styled in parallel with the petrol-powered Torres the Hybrid range is available in two grades – the entry level K30 and higher spec K40 (from $48,000 d/a).
Equipment highlights for the KGM Torres Hybrid K30 include 18-inch alloy wheels, adaptive cruise control, dual 12.3-inch instrumentation and infotainment displays, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, LED headlighting, LED interior ambient lighting, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, black and grey fabric upholstery, heated, power-adjustable and folding door mirrors, and rain-sensing wipers.
The K40 variant ups the ante with 20-inch alloy wheels, a powered tailgate, black faux leather upholstery, heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, rear door sun blinds, LED front fog lights, rear cross-traffic alert, blind spot monitoring, and lane-change collision warning.
Additional safety highlights across the range include eight airbags, autonomous emergency braking, lane departure warning and lane keeping assistance, high beam assist, driver monitoring, trailer stability assist, and front and rear acoustic parking sensors.
As standard, the Torres Hybrid is finished in Grand White paint. Metallic hues Space Black, Iron Metal, Latte Greige, and Forest Green attract a $700 price premium.
The Torres Hybrid is backed by a seven-year/unlimited-kilometre warranty, while the high-voltage battery is backed by a seven-year/150,000-kilometre warranty.
“We are thrilled to introduce the Torres Hybrid to our line-up,” said KGM Australia managing director Joseph Lee.
“This vehicle represents KGM’s commitment to combining advanced hybrid technology and bold character of the Torres brand, offering drivers an efficient, exciting and accessible way to experience hybrid innovation.”
