Ford returns Mustang Dark Horse to line-up

Extra giddy-up comes as standard on Ford’s new Mustang Dark Horse T8-Spec Pack

22 Apr 2026

PLEASING V8 enthusiasts no end is news that Ford Australia has confirmed the return of the Mustang Dark Horse for 2026, headlined by a limited-run collaboration with Supercars powerhouse Triple Eight Race Engineering.

The revived line-up will be capped at 500 units, including 250 examples fitted with the exclusive T8-Spec Pack – a locally developed, track-focused upgrade package engineered and installed in Australia.

Pricing for the T8-Spec Pack model is set at $138,888 plus on-road costs, while the standard Mustang Dark Horse starts from $104,990 + ORC.

Developed in partnership with the team known on-track as Red Bull Ampol Racing, the T8-Spec Pack is designed to bring race-bred performance to the road, celebrating Triple Eight’s switch to Mustang in the Supercars Championship.

Ford Australia marketing director Ambrose Henderson said the collaboration elevates the already track-capable Dark Horse.

“The Mustang Dark Horse is already the pinnacle of performance, but T8-Spec takes it to a new level of track-focused capability,” he said.

Available exclusively with a Tremec six-speed manual transmission, the T8-Spec Pack introduces a suite of performance and visual upgrades.

Key changes include wider 19-inch alloy wheels wrapped in Pirelli P Zero Trofeo RS tyres, a revised MagnaRide suspension tune with stiffer springs and roll bars, and adjustable top mounts aimed at sharpening handling response through more aggressive wheel alignment.

Aerodynamic enhancements feature a larger rear spoiler with a Gurney flap and an upgraded front splitter (track use only), while exterior detailing includes Triple Eight branding, a black roof and distinctive brake callipers.

Inside, the T8-Spec Pack gains Recaro sports seats, bespoke trim elements, and a numbered build plate, reinforcing its collector appeal.

Power for both standard and T8-Spec variants continues to come from Ford’s 5.0-litre naturally aspirated V8, producing 350kW/550Nm, paired with either a six-speed manual or 10-speed automatic transmission in the regular Dark Horse.

As part of the ownership experience, T8-Spec Pack buyers will also be invited to an exclusive track event at Queensland Raceway in 2027, offering direct access to Triple Eight engineers and drivers.

Triple Eight managing director Jamie Whincup said the program brings race expertise to the road.

“This collaboration allows us to take our championship-winning expertise and apply it to a road-going performance icon,” he said.

With limited numbers, local engineering input and direct motorsport ties, the Mustang Dark Horse T8-Spec may be one of the most focused and collectible factory-backed performance Mustangs offered in Australia.
