Future models - Volvo - EX30Update announced for Volvo EX30Volvo’s small electric EX30 SUV to add V2L functionality, UX tweaks, new interior colours27 Feb 2026 VOLVO has announced updates for the EX30 small electric SUV including vehicle-to-load functionality (V2L), UX (user interface) tweaks, and new interior colour choices, with the first of these additions being made available in Australia from mid-2026.
However, the brand has no plans to bring two newly announced variants to local shores…
Vehicle-to-load functionality – a feature most found on battery electric vehicles, allowing them to be used as a mobile charging device for appliances, tools, and other items and equipment – will be introduced to the EX30 via an over-the-air update for both new and existing owners.
With V2L added to the EX30’s repertoire, an adapter accessory will be made available through Volvo dealerships in Australia.
Two new interior trim choices will become selectable for the 2027 model year onwards, including a light-toned option dubbed Harvest along with an all-black interior choice.
Significant user interface updates are also on the horizon for the EX30 with the addition of a customisable content bar and crucial controls being made more accessible. However, Volvo has yet to confirm when these UX changes will be rolled out in Australian EX30 examples.
Overseas, two new variants will be added to the EX30 line-up, but there are no plans yet to bring them to the Australian market.
A new entry-level variant, producing 110kW and equipped with a smaller 51kWh battery – good for a WLTP range of 339km – will join the EX30 range in markets outside of Australia.
Additionally, an EX30 Cross Country in Plus trim level will join the roster alongside a single-motor option with increased efficiency over the all-wheel drive Cross Country introduced in Australia last year.
The last of the updates announced by Volvo apply to the EX30 Black Edition, which is not currently sold in Australia.
Specifically, it has gained new exterior colour options with Vapour Grey and Crystal White joining Onyx Black. The new black interior option introduced on the rest of the EX30 line-up is also available for the Black Edition.
Volvo’s EX30 line-up in Australia currently consists of the entry-level Single Motor Extended Range Plus (priced from $59,990 before on-road costs), the mid-grade Ultra variant ($66,290 + ORCs), and the dual-motor, “soft-roader” Cross Country model ($69,990 + ORCs), each offered with a 69kWh battery.
As of the end of January, some 58 Volvo EX30 examples have been sold in Australia in 2026, accounting for 13.9 per cent of the brand’s local sales this year.
However, this marks a 43.7 per cent decrease in sales compared to the same month last year.
During 2025, 1281 EX30s were sold in Australia, down 39.8 per cent from the previous year. ![]() Read more5th of September 2025 ![]() EX30 Cross Country takes Volvo off beaten trackVolvo continues Cross Country lineage with $70K rugged AWD version of EX30 small SUVAll future modelsMotor industry news |
