A stopgap model to reign in popular new VR Commodore, the ED’s chromed ovoid grille is the only visual giveaway.
Later-build EDs incorporate stronger body modifications developed for the following EF model. Higher gearing improved the 148kW/348Nm 4.0L’s fuel economy. The Ghia wagon was discontinued.
New standard features: part-leather trim.
Engine options: 165kW/388Nm 5.0L OHV V8.
